Demeter's Farm & Kitchen Cooking ThaiInspired Street Food With A Side Of Good Vibes

Phat Cap's combines traditional Thai flavors and Western cooking techniques into a unique and delicious street food menu.

Phat Cap's brings bold flavors and a dynamic menu to the Ballard food scene with their funky new food truck. While the focus is on Thaiinspired street food, the menu is far from ordinary.

When I stopped by last week to check out their offerings, I was happily surprised by the thoughtful fusion of standard Thai flavors with unexpected ingredients and cooking methods.

The menu is divided into three parts: starters, mains, and fries. Starters are all priced at $5, mains are $7, and fries are $3.

While I was there, chef and owner Aaron Silverman told me that the menu changes daily based on what local ingredients are in season. Silverman and his team source as much of their produce as possible from local farms, which means the menu is always changing.

On the day I visited, available starters included pork belly burnt ends on a biscuit with gochujang dipping sauce, fried green tomatoes with lemongrassinfused pimento cheese, and beef cheek spring rolls with mint and cilantro. I opted for the crispy fried tofu with coconutlime dipping sauce. The tofu was light and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the dipping sauce was light and refreshing.

For my main, I went with the spicy pork belly over rice with pickled veggies, fried garlic, and a poached egg. The pork belly was meltinyourmouth tender and the pickled veggies added a nice acidity to the dish. The fried garlic and poached egg rounded out the dish with a bit of extra richness.

I also sampled the fries with green papaya, peanuts, and a sweet chili sauce. The fries were crispy and wellseasoned, and the green papaya and peanuts were a nice addition. The sweet chili sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste, but it was still a good side to the fries.

Overall, I really enjoyed my meal from Phat Cap's. The food was delicious and creative, and the service was friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend checking out Phat Cap's if you're looking for a delicious and unique Thaiinspired street food experience.

Phat Cap's is located at 5429 Shilshole Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98107. They are open Wednesday through Sunday from 11am to 8pm. You can follow them on Instagram @phatcapssf for more information.
